Miss Independent

As a less-than-2-year-old toddler, BabyShasha has shown her independent side (other than her pampered side). Here are some of the examples on her actions showing that she's independent...

1. Undeniably, MommieSha is a lazy bum when it's time to wake up in the morning. BabyShasha (who would be up and awake after a bottle of milk at 7am) just gets down from the queen divan bed, goes out to the living room and plays with her toys until somebody wakes up and switch on TV for her. She won't be waking MommieSha up, but she does keep on checking on her Mommie when she starts feeling bored.

2. BabyShasha insists that she puts on the clothes and shoes on her own. Even upon arriving home, she removes her shoes and put them neatly on the shoe rack.

3. BabyShasha met her cousins last weekend, and as usual it took some time for her to like and accept her cousins. After some time spending at the hotel room with UmiNana (MommieSha's sister), KakNgah Nisha (8 year old cousin) and BabyMira (1 year old cousin), BabyShasha got the hang of it and bullies her UmiNana to pick her and BabyMira up and put them into the baby cot. BabyShasha insisted that BabyMira wanted to see the night view from the cot bed too. So they enjoyed the night view of Kuala Lumpur, with some explanation by UmiNana. At this point of time, BabyShasha had already accepted UmiNana as an adult she could depend on and BabyMira as her new playmate. The two babies continued bullying UmiNana to lift them up and down the cot bed and they talked about Kuala Lumpur night view the whole time. And where's MommieSha? Err..., playing balloon with the 8-year-old Nisha! Hehehe... :D

4. After the whole evening playing and got attached to the cousins (it was the first time we met BabyMira), BabyShasha slept off. Surprisingly, for the first time, she could sleep on her own in a cot bed for 6 hours straight! Of course, she got up after that 6 hours asking for milk. Hhmm... Sounds like she's ready to have her own bed, eh? ;-)

5. Evidently, UmiNana admitted that BabyShasha "pandai bawa diri" (meaning, she's independent). The statement was said seeing BabyShasha doing her own things, playing her own games (by making use of things around her to play with) and trying to make friends with others when MommieSha was not paying full attention to her.

6. BabyShasha would be talking to herself, or trying to make conversation with MommieSha at any time, even when we are driving around. She entertains herself with her chat, excitement, laughter and singing. Oh! Almost forgot... Drumming, too! ;;)

There are more instances, which I won't be able to jot at the moment. We will keep you updated on her acts on-goingly.

Weaning from Breastfeed

8th July 2007 is the date BabyShasha totally stopped depending on MommieSha for the 'extra security and comfort'... at age 1 year 8 months and 28 days old.

"Phew! Almost hit the mark of 2 years old!" That's how a relieved Mom like me would say.

The first night itself was full of tantrum, but surprisingly she could accept the fact that there's no more boobies for her on the second night! Instead, BabyShasha just requests to 'hold on to it' on and off to help her go to sleep.

Unfortunately, (I noticed) BabyShasha starts having nightmares in her sleep, where she would suddenly cry out loud in her sleep. Thinking that she is asking for milk, I would be getting up in the dark to make the milk for her, but return to see her dozed off again to 'postpone' her screaming after the next hour. Hhmm...

But at least the first 4-5 hours is tight sleep for her...
